Booking a yoga course

If possible, please try to commit to coming to a half-term block of yoga classes. This is usually between 5-7 lessons. It takes time, motivation, and a certain amount of self-discipline to learn anything new. So a short spell of dedication to your yoga practice means you are more likely to witness more progress and tangible benefits. It also means you will show up, rain or shine!

My yoga classes in North Devon tend to fill up quickly, so I give priority to those people who want to come each week. If a class is full, I can put on you on a waiting list until a space becomes available.

One-to-one and small group Sessions

You may want to start, refresh or deepen your practice on an individual basis. Maybe, you have specific health concerns you want to address, or feel it’s time to develop your yoga practice and explore aspects such as mantra, meditation, inversions, backbends, pranayama and so on. I am always happy to teach you at my home studio, or else at your home, either on a one-to-one or two-to-one basis or with a group of between 3 and 6 friends. Please contact me, if you are interested in having individual or small group yoga classes in North Devon around the Barnstaple, Bideford, and Great Torrington area. Private sessions cost £65 for one hour.

What is unique about my yoga classes?

I am inspired by teaching yoga as a practice of mindfulness and mind-body awareness. Although you may only be in a yoga class for 60 minutes or so, that is time enough to stretch and relax into the body, find your breath, listen to and honour your feelings, and reshape unhelpful habits that create stress, anxiety and tension. It follows that in doing so, we cultivate more happiness, freedom, and ease within us, around us. As we move mindfully with our breath, our yoga practice starts to reshape stiff, immobile, or tense muscles, helps to enhance our self-esteem and body confidence, resets emotional and physical energy levels, and increases mental focus, balance and contentment. Mindfulness works on many simple and profound levels, opening up a wellspring of infinite possibilities in living, and spiritual awareness of the dance of consciousness that flows through our minds and bodies. Each time you practice yoga, each time you come to a yoga class will be different and unique to you – a journey in self-understanding, and wellbeing – nurturing our relationship towards ourselves with compassion, self-acceptance, and love.

You do not have to try to keep up with yourself or the person next to you, or need to aspire to a perfect body shape! Our bodies are all unique and beautiful as they are, so you will be able to let go of any need to become like somebody else, and enjoy the contentment and freedom in being you. Classes are friendly, supportive and peaceful spaces, with as much one-to-one guidance as you need and appropriate challenges to develop your own yoga practice, whatever your starting point.

Can anyone practice yoga?

Everyone is welcome at my yoga classes in North Devon; it truly doesn’t matter whether you are old, young, super bendy or not at all, or whether you can touch your toes. We all have different starting points, and have stood on a yoga mat for the first time, not knowing what to expect! Wherever you are at in your yoga practice, there is always something new to discover and explore.

You may be coming to a yoga class now, because of a specific physical or mental health condition – please give me a call or email me before, so so I can make sure that I can help and support you appropriately in class.

What do I need to bring?

I have some spare yoga mats and blocks that I can lend you upon request. There is a supply of spare mats available at the Tarka Clinic, along with blocks and other props. Please bring along a blanket for relaxation, wear loose comfortable clothing and avoid eating a heavy meal for a couple of hours before.

Apart from this, come to each class with a fresh open mind as if you were stepping onto a yoga mat for the very first time.
